Integrated Care Webinar Series 1: The Integrated Care Experience in Ontario, Canada

Date: 13/02/2023
Time: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
Location: Central Coast Research Institute

On Monday the 13th of February 2022, the CCRI were fortunate enough to receive a visit from Associate Professor Shannon L. Sibbald, PhD – Co-Director, Lab for Knowledge Translation in Health; Associate Scientist, Lawson Health Research Institute, Western University, Ontario, Canada.

As a health systems researcher, Dr Sibbald’s interests span the health care continuum. She works from an ‘integrated knowledge translation’ approach involving knowledge-users, decision makers and key stakeholders throughout the research process. Her current research focuses on the implementation, spread, and sustainability of integrated models of team-based care for chronic disease management. She primarily uses qualitative research methods including multiple-case comparison, narrative approach, grounded theory, content and discourse analysis.

Dr Sibbald gave an informative presentation, focusing on the different models of integrated care, the state of integrated care in Canada, population health management as well as areas of priority, and next steps. She also presented some case studies and challenges, and discussed what Australian healthcare can take away from the ‘Ontario Experience’.
