CCRI Director visits the award winning ATUNE Integrated Health Centre in Cardiff
There is an increasing need for new models of integrated primary and community-based care that provide holistic health and wellbeing services. Established in 2006, ATUNE provides such an integrated health service for clients throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the Hunter Region. The Centre provides connected care across general practice, physiotherapy, osteopathy, psychology, podiatry, dietetics, exercise physiology, hydrotherapy, speech pathology and other services including a new Long COVID service.
Professor Goodwin said of his visit, “The ATUNE model of care has significant potential in improving people’s health and wellbeing and reducing the need for unnecessary medication use and hospital visits. It was a wonderful visit to see such a clear vision of care and commitment from all care professionals towards more holistic and integrated people-centred care. Working with the ATUNE team, and The Primary Health Network, our discussions focused on how to develop the value case for the ATUNE multi-disciplinary model through CCRI-led research, and prospects for the ATUNE model to support inter-disciplinary education and training on the Central Coast.”
The CCRI is working with multiple partners to develop proposals to examine the benefits of the ATUNE model of care for grant funding.
